Dr. Michelle Nelson
San Diego-born poet Michelle Nelson brings a unique perspective to her work, having spent over 20 years in healthcare. Her journey began as a nursing assistant and culminated in clinic management, a testament to her dedication to patient well-being. Michelle further bolstered her expertise with a Doctorate in Health Administration.
Driven by a passion for helping others, Michelle extends her compas- sion beyond the clinic walls. She actively contributes to the Depression and Bipolar Support Association (DBSA) and National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI).
Michelle’s poems, informed by her experiences, delve into themes of loss, love, and the complexities of mental health. “A Dark Way Home,” her debut collection, promises a deeply personal exploration of these themes.
